    [ubuntu] Re: Deja Dup Issue

After Googling around, apparerently this is the issue. In all the years I've used Deja Dup I've not come across this before, but apparently it does indeed need double the size of the backup otherwise...

    [ubuntu] Re: Deja Dup Issue

Just another strange thing about this. I calculated exactly the size of the backup, which is 287.4 GB. And the error message is "Backup location does not have enough free space. Try using a location...

    [ubuntu] Re: Deja Dup Issue

Does anyone know where Deja Dup keeps its config files? I'll try deleting everything and start with a clean config.

The total size of the folder being backed up was 417.2GB with 133GB of that set to be ignored.

    [ubuntu] Re: Deja Dup Issue

The Target has 500GB free space, but the backup size was only 280GB so it shouldn't have been an issue.

    [ubuntu] Deja Dup Issue

    New install of 24.04.
Tried running Deja Dup to my external drive with about 500GB free space. The Backup is about 280GB in size, but the backup stalls with the message I need at least 576GB of...

[ubuntu] Re: 24.04 Random Black Screen

OK. So after a reinstall of the beta, it appears that the black screen problem has gone. Only been a couple of hours though, so will post back if any issues.

[ubuntu] Re: 24.04 Random Black Screen

    Hi Claus7.
My install is not in a VM, it's a hard disk install. There's no pattern to it, purely random. I'm downloading the Beta now to see if the problem persists.

[ubuntu] Re: 24.04 Random Black Screen

    Hi 1fallen,
No. No Nvidia, all Intel based. 22.04 runs like a dream. It is an install from a daily build, whether that could be an issue I doubt, but don't know. Will overwrite with the Beta and see...

    [ubuntu] 24.04 Random Black Screen

Is anyone else getting a random black screen that lasts about 2 seconds and then returns to normal? This is happening in both Xorg & Wayland sessions.

[ubuntu] Re: X11 Window Manager Future

Thanks Ajgreeny. I'm pleased about that. Wayland may well have improved in 24.04 so I may go with it on my Intel based system, but for now Wayland just feels a bit clunky compared to X11.

    [ubuntu] X11 Window Manager Future

Does anyone know if X11 is going to be included as an alternative in 24.04?
The reason I ask is that I still find X11 a far smoother and snappier experience than Wayland.

[SOLVED] Re: Poor WiFi after Logout/Login

    Thanks for your reply @TheFu.
The problem was Powersave in /etc/networkmanager/conf.d. Changing the value from 3 to 2 then rebooting solved the problem.

[ubuntu] Re: mp3 player not recognized

I know that this doesn't help your issue, but my Sandisk Sansa Clip mp3 player, opens and transfers files perfectly on my 22.04 LTS system, so it's likely not the OS that's at fault. What model Sansa...

    [SOLVED] Re: Audio/video default applications

Are you actually using Ubuntu or Lubuntu as per your signature?
  22. Re: Accidentally deleted Windows after installing Linux

I would think that because the whole Windows partition has been reformatted to EXT4, then overwritten by Ubuntu, that data recovery would be nigh on impossible. Backups would be the only option if...

So first question. Do you have your Windows installation media to boot from?
  24. Re: Accidentally deleted Windows after installing Linux

If you wish to dual boot, you'll need to shrink your Linux partition (nvme0n1p3) by the size you wish your windows partition to be. Format the space you've created as NTFS, then install Windows on...
